Gr 6 Final Scripted Performance

This week was my last week of drama. I performed in two short plays for my final grade. One was titled, 'The Grave' and another was titled, 'Remote Chance'. Here is a reflection on my trimester in drama:
I think projection was one of the things I did best. I could hear what I was saying pretty easily. I think I was using my diaphragm because I didn't feel like I was straining my throat, and my voice was audible. While I was performing, I did feel that I had vocal variety, in 'The Grave' especially. But when I watched the video, I realized I could've been a little more dramatic with my voice. I think my voice wasn't very varied in 'Remote Chance'. I couldn't see my facial expressions in the videos, but I think I did have facial expressions that suited the situation my characters were playing. I am really proud of 'The Grave' group because I think I did my very best in that group, and I really liked how the story did turn out scary. I was also proud of my 'Remote Chance' group because that play was really funny, because of everyone's contribution to that play. Overall, I think I could've put more effort into 'Remote Chance' because my voice sounded pretty flat and didn't have enough expression to show what my character wanted to say.

At the beginning of drama, I gave myself an 8.5/10 to show how eager I was to perform and do this class. Now, I am probably around a 9/10 because I have learned to be a little more brave while I perform and I also know how to use a lot more vocal variety. Before taking this class, my voice was pretty flat when I presented. Now, I know how to change my voice. To sum it all up, I am glad I took drama this year.

TEN is a person who is dying to hit the stage on day one of drama and would willingly perform in front of all of 7th grade right NOW!  ONE is a person who would rather be ANYWHERE but the stage and would prefer to be wrapped up in a blanket back in their bed hugging their teddy bear. On this scale of one to ten, I would be an 8.5 because I really like acting and making other people laugh. I like to entertain people. I have had some experience with acting and drama, and I have really enjoyed it. I have always found pretending to be other people and being dramatic really fun. But, I am not the kind of person who would just hop onto the stage and perform. I do get nervous before I go onto stage, and sometimes shy. Even though I get nervous, I like the feeling of having nerves and butterflies in my stomach. I think it makes me do well on the stage, enjoy it more, and the whole thing feels real. I am looking forward to acting in drama class and showing people what I can do on stage. I do get nervous, but with the nervousness comes excitement! I am always excited to be on stage and get a chance to perform. 

Neutral Actor Homework

For my neutral actor homework, I watched CSI: Miami 8.  Here are some things I noticed about the neutral actors or extras:

• The extras are walking both in front of and behind the main characters, but they are blurred, so it is hard to notice them.
• The extras are wearing all sorts of colours, but they are wearing regular street clothes.
• The extras are wearing few or no accessories.
• When the main characters walk out of a frame, there are no extras walking by. The extras are only a background for when the main characters are in a scene.
• The extras are wearing clothing that fits the scene (e.g. in a hospital, they wear nurse costumes)
• The main characters or an important object is always in the center.
• Some scenes just have the feet or arms of the extras showing, because the camera is focused on any object.
• The extras don't move or turn suddenly. 
• It is hard to focus on extras with the volume on because the main characters' expressions match what they say and make you feel things like suspense. This distracts you.
• The extras are doing things that match the scene (e.g. in an office, they are on laptops and looking at papers.)
